Elin's Big Day

The day we have been waiting for for months now arrived this morning, when Elin was scheduled to get tubes put in her tiny ears. Her surgery was scheduled for 8:00 am, and we had to be in Halifax at the children's hospital for 6:30. It is a bit over a 2 hour drive for us, so we made arrangements for the older girls to stay at Dale and Brenda Snowdon's for the night, and Ryan, I and Elin travelled to T.J and Sandra's to stay with them for the  night as they live an hour closer  to the I.W.K.
Elin sleeping on the way to T.J's
We all were a little tired the next morning, and Ryan and I were a little nervous as well, but Elin was just great! She was as good as gold throughout the 1and 1/2 hour wait till her surgery, and didn't fuss at all even though she hadn't been allowed anything to eat or drink since the night before.

Checking out puppy's hospital bracelet that matched her own.Puppy went into surgery with her, so needed his own i.d. band!
All dressed in her tiny jonny shirt. she was so cute!
We brought her crocs for her little bare feet, and she was all set.
We had a little t.v. that she liked to watch all set up in our own little room. The sound came from the remote control, and she thought that was the greatest thing!

Elin loves buttons!!Playing with the remote was almost as fun as watching the t.v.!

She did fine through her surgery, and we went and got her as soon as she came out of the recovery room. She was nauseous ,and so sleepy still,so the nurse gave her to me,and I got to snuggle her for almost an hour while she slept.

Sweet baby. We were so happy it was over!
She had no tears at all when she woke up . She was so thirsty, and guzzled her little cup
of juice so fast. Then the nurse got her a popsicle and she was so happy then! She was almost frantic in trying to eat it , she was so hungry and excited!

                                      Sharing with Mommy

She was feeling pretty good after her popsicle ,and seeing that she kept it down, and her Tylenol as well, we were allowed to take her home! Her big sisters were very happy to see her back in one piece, and after a big nap this afternoon ( for all of us!)  we are thankful it is all  behind us and that God was good to see her through it without incident!  We are excited to see how her hearing improves over the next few weeks,we have already seen a few improvements since this morning!!
