Well one day not too long ago, the girls and I were out giving supper to a lady in our church, when we drove in our road, and I had to brake very quickly to avoid running over a teeny kitten that ran out in front of us. I pulled into our driveway, got out of the van and this kitten was barrelling over the road, into our lawn, and straight toward me meowing as loudly as she could. I scooped her up with the girls all around me, and saw that this poor kitten was a mess. She was soaking wet, crawling with fleas, one of her eyes was closed with infection, she had gashes all over her, and her mouth needed stitches to close her chin. As soon as she was in my arms, she started purring through her shivering, and I don't believe she stopped all weekend.. We called the neighbours,to see if she belonged to anyone around. It seemed she had been abandoned,as I guess this has happened in the past on our little dirt side road. It was a Friday night, and nothing would be open all weekend, so after talking it over with Ryan, we decided I would head to town to get some first aid things for "Happy" as we named this little poor cat.And we would do our best to help her till the s.p.c.a opened on Monday.
SO armed with dish soap, polysporin eye drops, and tweezers, we went to work,
First she had a much needed bath!!Checking to see how many fleas we had to dispose of!
Getting the tweezers ready!
Here we go! The cat purred steadily throughout the whole event..even the bath!!
ugly thing!!
In LOVE!!
This is the "Mommy can't we keep her" look that we saw 1000 times that weekend! Elle feeding Happy tuna on her lap!!
She sure filled that belly up!
a make-shift kitty litter!
Emmy getting her finally!!
needless to say bedtime was put off for a very long time that night!!
Happy warm,full,clean,kitty!!
This was soo cute, Even Ryan caught the kitty fever!! It fell asleep in his hands with its paw curled around his thumb..
We loved Happy all weekend, and on Monday through many little girl tears, we said good-bye, and Ryan brought her to the Moncton s.p.c.a., where she would be able to get her much needed stitches and a new home!!
