The girls and I went to visit my parents for a few days, leaving Ryan back home in Wood Point with a very quiet house!! We went to help Mommy decorate for Christmas, do some baking for her, and also get to see my sister Julie and her family , and my brother Josh and his family. We were all to have an early Christmas dinner together ( which Ryan was coming for) and also to celebrate Elin's first birthday ,
Well, this is a story. Ryan made me promise that the baby wouldn't start walking or anything extreme like that while we were gone for the long 5 days, and as I couldn't foresee her doing anything new in a few days, I told him not to worry. Well...we hadn't been at Mommy's very long, and I look over at her stairs, and there is my baby already on the second one, just as proud of herself as she could be..I was shocked.
The girls were never very far from Grampie...trying to be his helpers. Here he was trying to install a new door.
Eva underfoot
Elle chatting his ear off, the baby around his feet..it's a wonder he got anything accomplished!!
Now it was my turn for helpers!! Decorating Mommy's tree.
Elle took this job with great seriousness.
This is my favorite picture from the whole trip I think. The girls were having a snack, and I heard Eva say softly...'Mommy" so I looked over at her, and she was gravely looking at me with Grampie's glasses on. She wasn't trying to be funny, just wanted me to see her wearing them. I'm not too sure how she could see anything through all the butter on the lenses that her little popcorny fingers had left.
The next day the girls went outside for a while, and Emmy got down to the task of brushing Grampie's dog Sasha
She did such a great job, and loved doing it!
Eva meanwhile was Grampie's right hand girl
Their big project was to build a ladder so they could climb into one of the big trees lining Grampie's driveway.
Here they are with the completed ladder.
Walking the ladder down to the tree.
Elin and Mommy snuggles, which happened all the time, many times a day. Elin started a new kissing habit, that she lavished on poor Mommy....very wet sloppy licks!!
This was the cousin meet and greet. The Nortcilffe's had arrived late the night before, so in the morning when everyone woke up they just sat and stared at each other ..it was pretty comical!
This sadly happened very often during our stay in Wickham.. Elin loved to "strip" the Christmas tree of ornaments, and rip into Christmas gifts that were lying beneath it.She also loved pushing the pretty blue light that just so happened to be the power button for Grampie's computer, and empting his garbage can beside his desk. One stern reprimand from Grampie or Grammie, would send her into the HUGEST sobs.....poor broken hearted mischievous baby !!!
Eva and Skylar helping Grammie with her dishes...as only 2 year olds can!!
This too happened often during our stay..Emmy and Uncle Andrew engrossed in a game of pick-up-sticks. Emmy was getting very skilled towards the end of our visit, and even beat Uncle Andrew on a few occasions.
Sadly, when you homeschool, schooling follows you even on a "vacation"!! The girls were ever so cute at Grammie's table keeping up with their work.
Studious 2 year olds!
The highlight of the morning was the special stickers that Grammie gave them for their completed pages.
Another rematch!
Finally Ryan arrived. Were we ever glad to see him!! Here he is outside with the kids,as they are showing him around Grampie and Grammie's new home.
Sweet Eva.
I rounded the corner on our last day there, to hear a childish voice quietly counting to 10. I looked and there was Eva hiding her eyes, and trying to play hide and seek with her bigger cousins and siblings. She thought she was "it" but it turned out there was another "it" who was the real threat to the hiders.
Grampie with Phoebe
Elin helping Grammie load the dishwasher.
We doubled our pre Christmas get-together with a celebration for Elin's first birthday, so here we are with a little cupcake ,singing to her.
She wasn't sure what to think!
Still not sure what to think, but enjoying it never-the-less!!
unwrapping some birthday gifts
Super Special pre-Christmas gifts from the Sante's. An Awesome Advent Calender.
More special one year old gifts!
A new book for Phoebe!!
Poor Eva was completely worn out from our busy day! She fell asleep on Ryan's lap
It was time for us to go home, but litte Eva didn't want to leave Grampie's house. She was sobbing, that she didn't" want to go in the van", and so Grampie just snuggled her till, it was time to get her coat on.
Happily home again!!Elin wasn't quite ready for bed, so we had a bit of a chat before putting her down...I was enjoying my time with my baby. She is growing up so fast, and the big first Birthday was only 1 day away...crazy how time is flying by!
