Vacation Week...Roughing It!! Part 1

So our first week of vacation was spent at Mom and Dad Cameron's woodlot . They had just put a basement under their little house and were on vacation themselves getting lots of work(or trying to ) done . We joined them for a week filled with crazy fun, amazing food, no running water....no electricity(except when the generator was running) lots of old fashioned work and play.
Ryan and I did lots of landscaping for Mom and Dad.
The girls were kept busy in the wild raspberry patch picking us sweet berries which translated into yummy  skillet desserts.
Daddy kept busy looking out for kids and dogs while running his new excavator.

We looked for cooling watermelons kept in the stream....
We watched the kids watching the work and the puppy from the front door...
We got oodles of pictures and had loads of fun just being together!!
   We learned new things...
              Had fun thrift store shopping...
                     And modeling the finds afterwards..
We  got muddy playing in the dirt..
Took lots of breaks from the work to watch the clothes drying in the breeze.

                     We learned new skills....
Did you know that a drill  with a whisk attached can be used to whip cream ?
   Made new friends.....
                               Another new skill...hand washing laundry...
Had fun making a clothes line and hanging out our freshly washed clothes!
              More dirt and happy girls.
      More dirt and happy men!!!!
We also had cousin fun at a birthday party and got fun tattoos!!
       Petted friendly deer...
                                 Enjoyed being together..

                       Loved the wildlife up close...
           and far away!!
                   We chatted ..
and celebrated big 6 year old birthdays
And made memories...yup this vacation was splendid so far!!!!
